Your car's interior showcases the luxury of your car, but the interior is likewise one of the parts of your car's interior that need to be maintained, and if you take proper care of your leather car seats, they will look great in your car.

Leather is a luxury that we are willing to pay for in terms of maintenance, and unfortunately, it is susceptible to daily wear and tear and damage from exposure to the sun. If you clean your leather regularly, it can stay clean and dry from normal wear and tear. If you clean and maintain your seats regularly, you can prevent dirt and other rough stuff from scratching them. This helps keep the leather in good condition.

Leather can crack and fade after prolonged exposure to the sun, just like your skin. Therefore, leather car seats require special care to maintain their resale value, like using lotion to moisturize your skin. Clean and maintain leather car seats and upholstery every three months to prevent them from drying out and cracking in the sun. Thankfully, leather is easy to clean.

Ways to clean leather car seats

There are two ways to clean leather car seats. One way is to seek professional help from an indoor auto detailing store; do-it-yourself is your second method, which is also the cheaper option.

Items needed to clean your car by yourself.

1. Vacuum cleaner

2. Microfiber cloth

3. Leather cleaner

4. Leather conditioner

5. Soft bristle brush

6. Wet towel

What can be used to clean leather seats?

Leather Cleaner: If you prefer to use a manufactured product, purchase a product developed specifically for cleaning leather seats in cars. Do not use any multi-surface soap on your car's leather upholstery. These products will dry out the leather seats and make them more prone to wear and tear.

Please be careful not to purchase cleaning products containing ammonia or bleach, as both chemicals can harm your leather.

Alternatives

It is not recommended to use them on leather as they can cause discoloration and damage.

Laundry detergent: DIY solutions can be easily prepared using everyday household products such as laundry or dishwashing detergent. Collect warm water in a spray bottle and add half a teaspoon to a full teaspoon of detergent. Then, you combine the ingredients and use them.

Vinegar: Although using vinegar as a cleaner may sound strange, it works very well. Vinegar is an excellent low-cost antibacterial cleaner for general household surfaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, windows, and mirrors. To make a cleaning solution from vinegar, fill a spray bottle halfway with vinegar and then fill it with warm water.

Coconut Oil: Everyone knows that coconut oil is good for hair and skin, so it's no surprise that it works wonders on leather. After thoroughly cleaning the interior, you can gently apply coconut oil (or olive oil) to the leather. Apply a small amount slowly, then mix it with a dry cloth.

Baking soda: Because of its effectiveness, baking soda is sometimes used as a natural stain remover. Sprinkle it on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes until it is absorbed, and then wipe it off. One should remember that baking soda can become rough on more delicate objects. Avoid using fabric cleaners on leather seats whenever possible. Leather cleaners are the safest option.
